What is organic marketing

Organic Marketing is a type of marketing that attracts customers and promotes content on social media, websites, emails, using SEO, etc without relying on paid advertising.

If you’re just getting started in the online business world, organic marketing is the ideal way to begin because of the low investment required compared to paid marketing.

Some forms of organic marketing need no money, such as social media marketing using posts on Facebook or Instagram and following up in messenger.

If blog posts are the route you want, you can buy a .com domain for as little as $8.00 a year and hosting for $48 a year. What brick-and-mortar business are you going to have that low of an expense? For that matter, what other online business would have such a low overhead?

Let’s look at the different types of organic marketing available.

Social Media Posts

One of the most popular ways of organic marketing as of late is the use of social media. The organic marketing strategy for social media starts with making a daily post about one of three subjects.
1) Results
2) Value
3) Lifestyle

The idea of the organic marketing strategy is to gain the trust of your prospects. Your goal is for them to know, like, and trust you. So, your social media posts are geared to achieve this goal.

Your “results” post is to show proof that what you have to offer works. So, if you are promoting affiliate marketing courses, you show snapshots of commission payouts to you, affiliate commission dashboards, PayPal notices of funds added to your account, etc, showing that the course is worth the investment.

If you’ve just started and don’t have results yet, then show other people’s results that have taken that course. Or results of the one you’re learning from. (I highly recommend that you invest in the course, product, service, or software that you are offering. It improves your authority on the subject and trust)

The next post is the “value” post. This is simply giving valuable content like short training or an experience you had that they should avoid. Tips of the trade or a motivational post. This is what will help you start gaining their trust.

And your “lifestyle” posts. I don’t mean pictures of you standing in front of a Lamborghini or outside a mansion. I’m talking about shots of you having dinner with your wife or husband, playing with the kids or grandkids, or pictures of your pets. These posts are to show that you’re real. You’re the same as they are. Help them to get to know you and grow to like you. This will get them closer to being potential customers.

The combination of these organic marketing efforts will lead to likes and hearts on your posts, which lead to follow-up conversations on messenger, which lead to potential sales.

And none of this has cost you a red cent.

I consider this type of organic marketing my short-term cash flow.

Websites/Blog Posts

authority website as a type of organic marketing

Another one of my favorite types of organic marketing is an authority website. Your marketing strategy is a bit different than with social media platforms because here, a search engine is involved.

So, with your website, you set up blog posts. You use certain keywords in your blog post that will attract your target audience and bring traffic to your site, which is your organic traffic. Without traffic to your site, your website is dead. And the key to this is search engine optimization.

Another way to find your target audience is to find other websites in your niche and offer to do guest posts. This way you can include a backlink in your post that send readers back to your website.

Another way of getting organic traffic is posting links to the website on various social media platforms. With the combination of your own blog post, guest posts, the search engine, social media posts, and word of mouth, your website will be successful with plenty of organic traffic.

I consider this type of organic marketing my long-term income.

Word Of Mouth Marketing

word of mouth marketing

The oldest form of organic marketing in the book is word-of-mouth marketing. Simply talking to people about what you have to offer can get the ball rolling. Once you have satisfied customers and they start spreading the news, you could have a good domino effect. And this form of organic marketing is often overlooked.

Email Marketing

email marketing

Email marketing is another form of organic marketing. You can do all the same things as far as content goes, that you can do with a website or social media post. And you can drive traffic to your website or your social media platform from your email as well. When you build the right organic marketing strategy, it can tie all the platforms of your ecosystem together as one hard-working machine for you.

YouTube

This organic marketing venue is often overlooked even though it’s one of the best you could implement. Videos are more popular these days than text, so using YouTube in your organic marketing strategy will be a big plus. And once again, you can tie it into your ecosystem and send them from YouTube to your website, Facebook, or vice versa, or send it to all of them from your email marketing. This is effective organic marketing in action!

Paid Marketing vs Organic Marketing

paid marketing vs organic marketing

There are good and bad sides to both organic marketing and paid marketing. The obvious is organic marketing is free (or can be a very low investment) and paid marketing takes money.

And if you don’t know what you’re doing, paid advertising can run up a big expense in the blink of an eye.

Organic marketing is slow and takes time. Especially, if SEO is involved. You’re having to build trust with people and search engines and you need to be patient. The attraction to paid marketing is that it’s instantaneous. You can put an ad on Google or Bing and you’re getting hits on your offer within the hour. This can be a big plus compared to waiting for your blog to gain traction and get traffic to your site.

Organic marketing takes a lot of time and hard work upfront, BUT, it can pay off in the long term. You can build a true passive income whereas, with paid marketing, it’s a sale at a time and then start over. (One way around that is to send your paid traffic to an offer that will have a monthly recurring commission)

So, the bottom line is, organic marketing takes a bit more time and patience with little or no investment, while paid marketing gives faster results but takes a sizeable investment and a marketing budget. But with the right organic marketing strategy, you can see results for years to come.

Ideally, start with your organic marketing and as you start having success, include paid marketing as icing on the cake.

Organic Marketing Strategy

organic marketing strategy

The organic marketing strategy is pretty simple. It involves what I call four pillars.

  • Analyze
  • Create
  • Optimize
  • Improve

Analyze

analyze the search intent

You need to figure out your audience and their search intent. Their search intent is the “why” they are searching for that particular thing. Without knowing this, you could miss the boat completely by not matching your content with the search intent.

There are four search intent categories: Informational intent, Commercial intent, Navigational intent, and Transactional intent. You must match your content with the correct search intent. For example, if someone is searching for “what is affiliate marketing?”, you don’t want to try and sell them an affiliate marketing course. You would be writing content for transactional intent (they’re ready to buy).

They’re still in informational intent. They don’t even know what affiliate marketing is yet, much less, if they want to learn it.

Create

create content

Now you know the search intent, so, time to create the content needed to attract that particular intent. Gather more keywords to include in your content that will target the audience that brings traffic to your site.

There are excellent tools that will help you in your content creation. Tools that help with the content structure that tells you the word count, number of headings, number of paragraphs, and images you should use compared to the top-ranking articles in Google search can eliminate a lot of time and save you money in the long run. I use SurferSeo to help in this area. AI content writers such as Jasper can help you increase your content output. The combination of the two can have you putting out more high-quality content up to 5X as fast.

More content, more traffic, more sales.

Optimize

optimize your content

Optimize your content by doing the correct on-page SEO. Use your focus keyword in the main title, in the first H2 heading, and in the first couple of paragraphs. Use H2 and H3 headings properly. Break up your content with bullet points or numbers and include images to rest the eyes from the text. (use alt text on all your images).

Improve

improve the blog content

Let your blog get indexed, and over the next few weeks, evaluate the traffic and tweak and improve the blog content which will help you rank higher.

Always get your blog out there. You just want a minimal viable product to get eyeballs on. You don’t know at this point whether the blog post will be successful. All aren’t. So don’t waste time trying to get everything perfect. Just get it out there and get feedback. Then you can start improving on it.

In Conclusion

Organic marketing is a way to build your brand awareness and long-term passive income.

So, the three major points of organic marketing are:

Acquires An Authentic Audience

The audience you build is real. Why? Because you’ve built trust in yourself and your brand. They have a connection with you because you’ve earned their trust and they know and like you from the time you’ve taken to show them the real you.

Needs Low Marketing Budget

Very little investment is needed in organic marketing. The majority of your investment is mostly time and hard work.

Long-Term Success

Organic marketing is not a here today gone tomorrow gimmick. It’s not a fad. It’s a way to build a business that will last a lifetime and a legacy to leave your children. And since you’ve built your customer base organically, they’re here for an extended period of time and you’ll have repeat sales because of the trust you’ve built.
